FAQ

Why is editing important?

You have spent a lot of time, energy, and resources on your document. Editing is that last milestone to polish the work that you have done. When writing large documents, it is almost impossible not to have typos or unclear text, no matter the writers' linguistic abilities. Most individuals struggle to find the flaws in their work. A uniform and a linguistically correct, well-edited document will help ensure a better reception from your examiner and overall audience. Having spelling, grammar or wording errors can frustrate the reading process. Documents that are not uniform in formatting can lead to confusion or frustration. This can easily send the wrong message to the examiner that you did not put in the amount of time and effort you did. Therefore, editing can help limit frustration for the examiner. It can make your work and intent clear. It ensures that your work is at its best level for the effort you put in.

Is booking essential? Do you take last minute manuscripts?

Booking is important to ensure that one of our editors has enough time to edit your work. Although we prefer bookings, we take last-minute manuscripts if our editors have the time to accommodate the project. Although we always encourage students to stick to their set schedule, we understand that life happens. It is not always possible to have the manuscript ready by the projected timeframe. We are accommodating, but we also value our editor's time. Your hand in date and document length can determine if we have the space to accommodate a last-minute editing project. It is also possible to edit chapters of your document as you finish them. The second edit will then be on your final document as a whole. This is not essential; full documents can also be edited. Full document editing is usually the norm.

Why is it important to send my document back a second time?

After we have edited your manuscript, we will send it to you, and you need to make the necessary changes. It would be best if you gave yourself enough time to make the changes (this will depend on the size of your manuscript). The document can be sent back to us when you are done, free of charge. The editor will then check the document again. This will ensure that any small flaws that might have slipped through the first time can be found and edited. This is not always possible with last-minute manuscripts.

What is journal-specific editing?

Journal specific editing is only done on academic articles that will be sent to a specific journal. Journals have specific requirements. If your article was not written with the requirements in mind, this could mean a lot of editing. If you are interested in journal-specific editing, you must send us the journal site and, if possible, their journal-specific requirements. We have done multiple journal-specific article editing projects with clients ranging from students to professors. Journals can require a specific referencing style, capitalisation of certain words, specific word count and different formats. If students need to submit an article with their master's or PhD manuscript that does not require journal-specific editing, the normal language editing price will apply.

What type of references are edited by this company?

We are proficient in Harvard referencing. Harvard referencing has many forms. Therefore, we request that your institution's guide be provided with your manuscript. If this can not be provided, we will try to make your references as uniform as possible through your manuscript. We accept other referencing styles that are close to Harvard, like APA. If you are unsure if we can edit your references, please send us your reference guide, and we will confirm if we can edit your style. We do cross-check your in-text references with your bibliography. We do not take any responsibility for the accuracy of the references or any plagiarism found in manuscripts.
